Personal Statement

Andrea earned a Master's and Doctorate in Social Psychology from Michigan State University.  This degree focuses on research methods and the study of behavior in group situations.  After a few years as an instructor at MSU, Andrea moved to the Michigan Department of Public Health (now called the Department for Family and Child Services) where she wrote grants and worked on statewide databases and on regulatory committees such as Certificate of Need which governs the distribution of health resources.

In 1993, Andrea moved back to academia by joining the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, where she worked for Health Systems Research (HSR) for 12 years and functioned as the Research Coordinator for the campus for two years.  In addition to her work with nonprofit organizations through HSR, she also provided technical assistance to medical and biomedical researchers at the University.  In 2007, Andrea retired from the University, but retirement did not last long.  In August 2011, she joined the Saint Anthony College of Nursing on a part time basis.  She is working to support both the faculty and students in their research endeavors.
