Dr. Takekuma is a distinguished nurse leader in the area of community health nursing in Japan. While she leads Kumamoto Health Science University, Department of Nursing, Dr. Takekuma has initiated a community based group home / home hospice in a rural community, utilizing a vacant home due to decreased population associated with advanced aging in the community population. Dr. Takekuma will share and addresses issues related to carrying on cultural legacy of caring for the old and dying of the community through community based group home / hospice program. She is recently awarded Yomiuri Award for her dedication and work with the older adults. Miwa
Murata, MSN, RN, Nurse Manager, Japanese Red Cross Kumamoto Hospital, Kumamoto, Japan
Miwa served three years as an assistant professor at Japanese Red Cross Hiroshima College of Nursing. Currently, she is a nurse manager at Kumamoto Hospital. Miwa’s presentation includes work of the Japanese Red Cross Society, Kumamoto Red Cross Hospital as well as her personal experience in disaster relief efforts.
